Travel Mini Journal

Image
Here is a project I made the other night for a co-worker's birthday. It's a mini travel postcard journal for her vacation photos. I didn't plan to make this album, the thought came to me on the way home from work (I live a mile from work) so the thought came quick HAHA. When I got home I started on it right away. It took me 2 night to get it done. I used light weight chipboard from the craft store from the open stock paper section for the cover. For the pages inside I used light weight craft paper sold in a packet from Joann. Normally I only use Stampin Up cardstock because of the nice weight of the paper. It's great for cards, but for a project like this, I like to use the thinner weight. The postcard stamp is from Stampin Up. The idea behind using this in the mini was so that a photo can be added to one side of the paper and on the other was the post card stamp to note where the photo was taken and some journaling. Here are some photos of the pages inside as well

April Chunky Charm Swap at MAS, theme was fashion

Image
I did a chunky charm swap over at Mini Album Scrap (MAS). The theme was fashion and you had to use at least 5 charms that represent the theme. It was hard to find charms in my craft local stores  so I made some. I think a lot of the swappers buy online for charms because the other chunky charms in the swaps had some cute charms. I need to know where I can buy different charms. You also had to put your charms on some type of presentation that was also fashion themed. I made jewelry boxes out of little boxes I had from something I had ordered. Here are some photos and my video I made. Enjoy! Here is my video of the charms I made for swap.

Stampin Up new catalog

Image
I'm no longer a Stampin Up demonstrator, but I'm thinking about signing back up to get the discount since the new catalog came out. I want everything in it, haha. But I made a short video on some of my favorite items in the new catalog. I did order the new trimmer, I like the idea that you can keep the cut and score blade in the trimmer when using one of them. I hate having to go get my scoring board when I have to make a simple score line. I did sell some of my Stamping up sets to make room and have money to buy new. I'm don't hold on to crafty items if I don't use them so I am always "spring cleaning" my craft supplies. I do still have a lot though. Anyways, here is the video on new catalog and my take on some favorite items and good ideas.

Blog Catch Up...

Image
Good Morning All, It's Sunday morning and I'm sitting on my porch with my dog Ella. I love my screen in porch since my landlords had it painted recently. I love sitting out here early in the morning with my coffee watching the birds and the chipmunks. So does Ella, she loves watching the squirrels, I'm surprise she hasn't gone through the screens. I wanted to catch up on some posting since I haven't posted in awhile. I have some swaps I'm working on for Mini Album Scrap that I will be posting in a week or so. But for now I want to chat about Heidi Swap products. I'm late to the game and buzz around Heidi Swap products. I recently bought on sale and clearance the memory file products. I got the products to scrap my annual women's wine weekend. I go on a wine tasting trip the same time every year with a group of friends and I scrapbook our weekend every year. I have 3 thick 12 x12 albums filled up, so I thought I would try this system to scrapboo
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g544LAVdWpc Hello Everyone, here is my video on a swap I did for MAS (Mini Album Scrap). It was my first Chunky Charm swap and I'm please on how they turned out. The theme was fashion, and our presentation to hold the charms also had to be fashion related. So I made jewelry boxes out of the little boxes that I kept from something I ordered. I knew one day I could put those little boxes to use. The charms had to have 15 dangles and 5 of them had to be related to the theme. I had a hard time finding fashion charms in the craft stores. So I made some of them, I made a hair clip and I shrunk down Vogue magazine covers and made charms. I'm not sure what you are suppose to do with the charms since they are so chunky. I will have to ask the ladies in my swaps. I think they just like to collect them and don't do anything with them :). Not sure if I will do another chunky charm swap, it was expensive to make these. I had to make 3 charms and I will g

My new YouTube video...

Hi Everyone,  I went to an indoor rummage sale yesterday and was on a hunt for glass pieces to glue together to use for my crafting embellishments. I would see vids on YT on other crafters and they would be talking about their candy stations and I didn't know what they were talking about. So I looked up some vids and saw that a crafter's "Candy Station" was pretty containers holding embellishments  placed on together in an area. Which I think is a great idea if you have the space. I have a lot of embellishments packed away, I forget what I have. So I am in the process of creating my own calorie free Candy Station. Oh I might sneak a bowl of chocolate in there, after all what's crafting without a little chocolate!  I thought I can make mine own. So I dug through old boxes of things I got from grandmother and found old glassware. The 2nd photo is what I bought for a 1.00 at the rummage sale.

2012 Christmas Gifts

Image
I made these 2 house shaped mini albums for my niece and a friend who both spent 1st Christmas in their new house. I had a kit for the one and the second one I bought blank chipboard houses and made my own. The first with the green chimney is the kit and I didn't want to have to cut around the chimney. So I use Tim Holtz distressed crackle paint in Peeled Paint and Clear Rock Candy and then I had even better idea for the second mini. I wanted to look like brick so I Tim Holtz distressed ink Red Door and then used versamark and clear embossing powder. I scored brick lines in the powder before I used the heat tool. I loved how it turned out. Here is a video of the second mini and photos of the first mini.

This recipe came from my grandmother. I was curious to see if there were other recipes like this one. So I googled I didn't find this exact recipe but variations of it. These are the 3 sets of sticks I got back from the swap over at MAS. http://minialbumscraps.ning.com/ I love getting swaps back in the mail, excited to see which ones I get in return. I'm like a little kid at Christmas time. There are so many creative people and I'm so glad I found YouTube, blogging and doing swaps with other crafters.
